About Lorena and job interest

I am a multidisciplinary and detail-oriented creative with a strong interest in fashion, current affairs, creative writing and visual communication. I recently graduated with an MA in Publishing at London College of Communication (UAL) where I specialised in content creation and production for both printed and digital platforms. I am able to transform ideas into concepts and build effective and genuine communication by combining my natural empathic intelligence with the expertise built through my academic journey. I have always been fascinated by new and innovative ways of intertwining text and images to create powerful visual outlets. Moreover, I have a strong sense of aesthetic and I am not afraid to show it through unconventional perspectives. Personality-wise, I am very scrupulous and conscientious but also able to handle pressure and strict deadlines. To me, working in an inclusive and inspirational environment is fundamental in order to achieve my full potential, as a professional and as a human being. Nothing fuels me more than collaborating with other engaged and like-minded individuals towards a collective purpose. I am currently seeking work experience within the creative industries.

Why Should We Hire You?

As a child with a vivid imagination, who often felt like her own reality was not enough, I have always been fascinated by the power of books and magazines: the power to escape, to learn, to feel and to understand the world at larger. I felt, and still feel, myself evolving as a thinker and a human being through reading. Thus, it only seemed natural to pursue an education combining literary studies and publishing. During my bachelor, I developed solid critical and analytical thinking, excelling in both academic and creative writing. Moreover, throughout the MA Publishing course at the London College of Communication, I had the opportunity to gain a real insight into this fast-changing industry by working on various practical media projects, often taking on roles I had no prior experience in. This hands-on method allowed me to improve my technical and creative skills and develop a multidisciplinary approach towards media production and content creation. I am now confident that I can transform ideas into concepts and build effective and genuine communication by combining my natural empathic intelligence with the expertise built through my academic journey. I have always been fascinated by new and innovative ways of intertwining text and images to create powerful visual outlets. Moreover, I have a strong sense of aesthetic and I am not afraid to show it through unconventional perspectives. Personality-wise, I am very scrupulous and autonomous. However, I honestly believe I give my best when working with a like-minded team. Nothing fuels me more than collaborating with other engaged and like-minded individuals towards a collective purpose. Therefore, I believe my personality, skills and understanding of the contemporary publishing industry will make me a valuable member of any creative team.

Master's Degree

London College of Communication

During the course, I learnt how to conceive, develop and devise finished publishing projects, both in digital and physical outlets. I created a magazine, in collaboration with other creatives, which explores - through words and visuals - the modern interpretations of feminism, from an intersectional perspective. Within this project, I worked mainly as an editor, thus I was responsibly for managing the content (including briefing, searching, contacting and recruiting potential contributors, setting deadlines and proofreading drafts, copywriting and translations from Italian to English). Moreover, I worked closely with the designer, advised the art direction and supervised all the production stages, including preparing the files for different print methods (litho, riso, reprographic), selecting different paper types, cutting and binding. I also have experience in managing social media channels and building effective marketing strategies. I worked freelance as a social media marketing assistant for the Italian market and I was in charge of constructing and organising content calendars for small and medium-sized businesses. I have been part of the design team for the 2019 Annual Publishing Innovation Conference at LCC, where I was in charge of managing all the production phases for posters, brochures, bookmarks, notebooks, shopping bags and worked closely with the Marketing team for press releases. Furthermore, I have been a UX researcher for the development of a new reading app prototype (D°ssier). Within this project, I was responsible for identifying and analysing our target personas and conducting interviews to test the app's usability, in order to inform and advise the design and marketing teams. I also collaborated with Makerversity for the realisation of a printed zine following their event "Progress to Process: Interwoven", a weekend festival (April 27th-28th) of debates, workshops and an interactive exhibition around the topic of sustainable fashion.
