I live in a touristic place, and in combination with having spent all of my summers in our family hotel in Hersonissos, Crete, I became passionate about the Tourism and Hospitality Industry. The Department of Tourism Studies intends to "produce" graduates who will become managers with the ability to understand how they will capitalize on opportunities, solve problems and face difficulties, manage operations, market the services and facilities of the companies they manage and develop excellent relationships with the staff of the companies or organizations in which they will be employed. The competitiveness of the Tourism Industry goes through its quality and this quality passes through the quality of education for tourism executives. It is, therefore, necessary to create competitive tourism education systems and to emphasise quality and effectiveness issues. The Department of Tourism Studies of the University of Piraeus offers a competitive, quality educational environment, responding to the modern, dynamic and challenging sector of Tourism.
